Propose an Event
UMBC’s 50th anniversary — January 2016 through June 2017 — is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate our university’s history and demonstrate its continuing impact on our state, nation and world. It is also a moment to ensure the university’s bright future as a public research institution.
The occasion is a unique moment to deepen the connections of our nearly 70,000 alumni with UMBC’s journey. We can make that happen through events and programs that reflect the depth and breadth of UMBC’s intellectual enterprise, its social and cultural life, and the university’s service to the larger community.
We need our alumni and campus community to collaborate on events and programs to make UMBC’s 50th anniversary special and reach out to our graduates. We are soliciting application for events and programming in several categories:
- Already existing events that need additional funding and resources to attract and engage alumni.
- New events that reconnect and engage alumni with the UMBC community.
- Events on September 17, 18 or 19, 2016, which will be special commemorative days.
- Programs at third-party events — festivals, conferences or other events created and staffed by other organizations or institutions.
In this application form, we ask that you tell us about your new idea or your existing event or program, and tell us about the team that will accomplish it.
The current round of applications will close at midnight on Friday, March 18, 2016.
We have assembled an FAQ (click here) that will help you refine your proposal, and we will be offering informational sessions and consulting during the application window.
Thank you for helping us plan a year of events and programming to celebrate UMBC!
