The Department of Visual Arts is hosting a day and evening of art, performance and other surprises to welcome alumni back to campus for UMBC’s 50th Anniversary. We invite you to join us with your family and friends to help celebrate our vibrant half-century of artistic vitality and academic excellence.
It’s all happening on Saturday, October 15th at the Fine Arts Building and the Imaging Research Center. From 11am-5pm you can catch-up with faculty and old friends, see new work from your fellow alums an create one-of-a-kind artworks of your own! You’ll also have time to view the Center for Art, Design, and Visual Culture’s latest exhibit,Revolution of the Eye: Modern Art and the Birth of American Television.
Later in the evening, from 5:30 to 9:30pm, we’ll wrap-up the special day with The Golden Ball, a black and gold themed metallic masquerade to celebrate UMBC (gold being the traditional metal associated with 50th. Anniversaries). The evening will commence with a cabaret showcase of alumni performance and after we’ll relax and reconnect with music, refreshments, and dancing.
